“Harness My Passion To Your Will
As I was praying today, a cry to the Lord from the depths of my spirit came out, “harness my passion to Your will!”
Reading about great men and women listed in Hebrews 11 stirs my faith. Thinking about people like Deborah of old and history makers like Joan of Arc, William Tyndale, healing revivalists like Mariah Woodworth-Etter, John G. Lake, Smith Wigglesworth and Kathryn Khulman always moves me with a passion to want to see the purposes of God fulfilled through my own life. Yet, being stirred is not enough. In looking at their lives I have found common attributes that are vital necessities to breakthrough.
1. They perservered in faith and never gave up. History-makers never give up. Romans 8:24 “…we hope for what we do not see, with perserverance we wait eagerly for it.” Pererverance is vital if we are to inherit the promise. Faith grows in the face of contrary circumstances, because faith is a choice to believe God’s word above what circumstances try to tell you. Hebrew 11:11 says that by faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. We enter the powerful realm of faith when we are faced with impossible circumstances and choose to judge God faithful. Instead of changing our doctrine to try to explain circumstances, we must be deliberately childlike in trusting the integrity of God’s word.
2. They were focused on their purpose and harnessed their passion to the good fight of faith.I Tim 1:19 This command I entrust to you,Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight,…” I remember just before God launched me in the healing ministry, I had two close friends die of cancer. I was so grieved and disappointed that I said to God that I didn’t want to pray for the sick because it seemed too hard and I didn’t want to risk myself or others being disappointed. A lot of churches have based their beliefs on similar circumstances. But in the week following my second friends death, the Lord visited me and spoke to me in a vision and said, “Katherine, you must believe.” That night I made a choice to believe that God would heal the sick through me despite my experiences. Since that time I have seen many cases of cancer healed and miracles more numerous than I can recall. So I say to you as God said to me – you must believe! To give up is to give in to the enemy and he is a cruel captor. Fight the good fight of faith. Let your passion not be hijaked by grief or disappointment, but let it be harnessed to the fight that God has already set you up to win. Hope in God does not disappoint!
3. They were doers of the word and not just hearers. James 1:19-25 (Amplified Bible) 19Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. 20For man's anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]. 21So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.22But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. 23For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror;24For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like.25But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). It is one thing to be excited about a prophetic promise, but it is another to actively step out and lay hold of it, and to go and do what the Lord says. This battles is not for the passive. Matthew 11:12 (Amplified Bible)12And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize--a [a]share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].
God’s plan for you is to fulfill the prophetic destiny He has for you and He is waiting to bless you as you step out in faith. Fix your eyes on Him, the author and finisher of your faith and never give up because there is a great reward for those who will lay hold of the victory ordained for them.
